Question

My father passed away recently. How do I find out where the funds from his 401k went when he retired? I am the beneficiary on all of his accounts. The plan administrator did not include disbursement information regarding the recipient.

He may have rolled his 401k funds into a Traditional Rollover IRA. That's the most likely scenario.  He should have been receiving statements from the IRA custodian sometimes in paper form sometimes in electronic form to his email.  If you can't find anything, go back to the plan administrator and ask them what custodian your father used for the transfer, they should be able to give you that information.
