Question for the Money Doctors
Question submitted on Sep 12, 2019.
QuestionI am 25 years old and trying to set myself up for retirement and I would like to meet with a financial planner but I do not have a ton of money to spend on one. Are there financial planners who do not cost money? I have a 401k and I have been contributing from age 23 (not much though) and I want to make sure I am setting myself up for success as the career I am in will likely not offer a pension at any point in time.
You are off to a good start just by realizing that you should have a financial plan. I recommend that you subscribe to a financial planning newsletter, so that you can be informed to ask good questions of a financial planner and make the most of the consulting fee. Also, spend time reading articles on the AICPA website. When you are ready, search for a CPA/PFS in your area by going to www.findacpapfs.org.
