My husband works in Russia and is on a 35/35 day rotation. Am I reading it right that he can only be IN the USA for 30 days a year to get his first +/- $95,000 tax free? How can this be? How much can we expect to pay in to US taxes for 2014? His Russian taxes of 13% are paid by his company.

No i dont receive survivor benefits my daughter does. Her father and i want together when he died. And i have access to the money she receives every month. My question was could i receive a lump sum from these benefits of $10,000 or more??

Do insurance companies routinely notify tax agencies of beneficiary payments? Right away? Prior to payment?

we need $50000 to renovate our house. should we borrow from 401k at 1,8% or refinance w/ bank at 4%? bank is 15 year loan 401k is 5year loan. I am 57 and would like to retire in 5 years.
