Does it make sense to make purchases when promised no interest for 6 months to a year from now?
If the purchase is something you were going to buy anyway, and you are certain you can afford to pay it in the time frame offered, then yes. However, be very certain you can pay the debt within the time due. Most of these offers carry a high interest rate once the grace period expires. This is a type of financing, and it should not be used to overextend your budget. If you don’t have a clear idea of how you will pay at the end of the grace period, you should not make the purchase. Whenever possible, cash is always the best option when making purchases. If you have budgeted the cash for your purchases do not be tempted to finance on zero interest and spend the cash elsewhere unless it is necessary. Avoid unnecessary financing as circumstances may change by the time the bills come due.
