Question

Should you have supplemental health insurance if you qualify for Medicaid?

Answer

The Medicaid program is administered by the state although it is funded by the federal government. Each state sets its own eligibility rules. If you have children, there is the Children''s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Go to www.medicaid.gov to learn more about this for your specific state. The homepage has a map of the United States, click onto your own state to get more detailed information. There are 800 numbers you can call to review your own situation. There are seminars and workshops that are offered to the community to better understand this.

Each state has different rules on what is covered by Medicaid and if supplemental insurance is available and at what price.
