Question

I am looking at refinancing my mortgage. I also wanted to pull my homeowners insurance out of escrow and pay it myself, but leave the property taxes in escrow. Am I required to pay an escrow waiver fee in that situation, since I still will have an escrow for the taxes. Thank you.

Answer

The escrow waiver is not a regulated item, each bank/mortgage company can set their own rules. Some charge a higher rate or a separate fee for escrow waiver, some don’t allow it at all.
