Question submitted on Dec 12, 2012.

Question

I am 63 yrs old and collect 770 a month in social security and a state pension from ohio of 650 a month. I will earn my limit of 14,640 for part time work.Next year if I invest my part time job earnings into a 401 plan , will that money count toward my social security limit.

Answer

I am not sure what you are asking.

Are you wanting to know how much of all the dollars you earn are subject to SS taxation or are you seeking to determine how much SS will be cut because of your other earnings?

Please resubmit the question, especially as to the phrase "social security limit".
