Question

How do I locate an hourly bookeeper to help me sort out & pay my personal bill and most importantly help me set-up and maintain a budget.

Answer

First of all I believe that everyone should sort out, track & pay their own personal bills--this is one of the few ways to truly know and understand for what your money is being spent.  Now, this may not apply if you are ultra wealthy and have 10 million dollars or more and can afford to hire someone to do this for you who would also then generate personal financial statements including cash flow and/or income/expense reports.  So, unless you are an ultra wealthy person, the goal would be to eventually learn how to do this yourself.  So, how could you learn this?  Several ways exist from getting a ‘how to’ book to learning on the fly.  Another way would be to hire someone to get it set up for you and then teach you how to do it going forward.  So, back to your question--where do you find someone like this--The first place that I would look would be to call a couple of small accounting firms.  They will have people on their staff that do this for small business owners.  They may also be able to refer you to someone that does this for individuals as a second job.  A second option would be to call a couple of financial planning firms.  Many times small financial planning firms will also do this type of service.  Remember, the goal here should be for them to help you get it set up and then teach you to do it, if possible, rather than continuing to pay them to do it for you.
