Married couple with 1 child, ages are 59, 55 & 15. All of our checking and saving accounts are individual with POD notification. Should we add each other to bank accounts in case of illness/disability since we are reaching retirement age? Our daughter is beginning college next month and she has both an ESA as well as a 529 plan. Is there a rule of thumb as to which vehicle to use first? Also, she does have some Savings bonds in joint name. Is there a benefit in using those for tuition? Thanks for your information.
