Hello, I have approx. $200k in a 401(k) plus an outstanding loan of approx. $32k. Company has been acquired and I now have an option of rolling it all over to a IRA, but Vanguard is telling me that the loan will be looked at as a distribution, they will withold 20% and I may pay a 10% penalty next year when I do my taxes. Is there any other penalties or taxes I...

I have over $ 1.1 million in savings, most of which is two years into a six-year CD at an interest rate of 3.5%. I did this largely because of my distrust in the stock market, which certainly has not been gained with the economic downfall of the past few years. Am I being over-cautious in the way I invest or prudent ? My age is 51.

I have about $100,000 in student loan debt and when the economy went bad, I lost my job as a pilot. I have since got a job as a police officer and barely make enough money to make ends meet. I have been taking college classes at least part time and delayed graduating, so I don''t have to start paying back my student loans yet. I can''t hide from them forever. What...

I learned of your site during a webcast seminar at yale. Is the Mint.com budgeting website a trusted site. Are there better sites you could recommend to form and track a budget? Thank you, Tim

Last year I purchased my credit score. This year it has dropped by 14 points. I have three store credit cards. The last one opened over two years ago. One I rarely use. The other two I use more frequently but, I always pay the balance in full each month. It''s never late and I never come close to my credit limit. I have not applied for additional credit.I have not...
