we need $50000 to renovate our house. should we borrow from 401k at 1,8% or refinance w/ bank at 4%? bank is 15 year loan 401k is 5year loan. I am 57 and would like to retire in 5 years.

This is the first year I will l be filing my taxes separately. The ex says he should be able to deduct the payments he made for the bills (house payments, insurance and such) connected with the property I was living in prior to the divorce being finalized. Is that the case?

I have a child that will be entering college in the fall. I have other children 16 and 12 respectively. I have taken out (on 2/18/15) all of the Coverdell money from each of their accounts. I have opened up one 529 for my college bound child. I want to combine the money from the 12 year old and put it in the 18 yr. old's 529. Can I do this without paying a penalty....

I have a total of 17K in Charitable contributions in 2014. While doing my taxes on Turbotax , I am finding that I am not getting a lot of tax savings for these because of my Income level in 2014 and other deductions. Can I postpone the entire 17K to 2015. I am projecting a larger income for 2015.
