I'm to retire next May, 2017 (will be 70). In October I will get a small (I'm sure) raise. When it's raise time, I always put away $50 - either into my savings (have about $12k) or my retirement account (no matching here - will have about $250k). What would be your advice, since I won't be able to save or contribute after I retire? Put it in savings or retirement...

My spouse and I are filing separate returns (married filing separately), do we have to use the same method of claiming deductions (i.e. both use standard or both itemize)? Thank you very much

We have a family farm run under an LLC which received a state grant to trial some innovative agricultural practices. A portion of the grant was used to by capital equp that is depreciated. When filling out our irs 1065 form we include it as other income on the sch F but does the grant money count as self employed income when reporting SE income on 1065 line 14a?

It seems that solo 401(K) plan documents are primarily boilerplate / fil-in-the-blank templates. Yet, firms charge between $ 600 and $ 1200 to provide these documents. Do you know of a more cost-efficient way to set up such a plan? Thank You. Steve

My father signed the title to his home to me 6 yrs ago but remained living in home . He has moved and told me to sell if I wanted to. So I recently sold the home an need to know if I need to report this on next yr taxes
