My friend and I are having a debate on this. I responded to an add online for a part time contractor job. The general contractor said he will be paying me by business check but will not 1099 me. He did not ask for my social security number or have me fill out a w-9. Could he still 1099 me at the end of year with out that information? It will be about 200 dollars...

I am being sponsored by my company for my MBA. The company pays the school directly (not in my W2), and the school bills an all-inclusive tuition which includes qualifying tuition, books, housing, and food. When I received my 1098-T, it listed out the qualifying tuition and the non-qualifying. Do I need to pay taxes on the non-qualifying...

Since they are not a lienholder like when a person has a loan on car or home can they make this stipulation? Thank you for your time. Kerry

For whatever reason I can't find a competent CPA to answer what should be an easy answer to a question I have about the exercising, holding, and selling stock options and how they impact carry over loss from prior years. Understand I am not looking for ANY tax advice I simply want a legal answer that is not subjective. Why is it so hard to find someone to answer...

I am a full-time student and am 19. I am currently a dependent under my mother. With that, am I able to file exemption from with-holding? I did the math and would most likely make $8,600 this year (which would be over the standard deduction). Yet, I don't know if it would be better to simply pay back money, or to have it with-held and hope for a better return? Any...
