Myself and my stepson who is older than me are both listed as beneficiaries on my now deceased spouses life insurance policy. I have filled out my portion of the paperwork (his portion is just a duplicate of mine) and I've attached all necessary documents. If he doesn't complete his paperwork will that delay my payment?

Mom gifted her home to me while retaining a life estate for herself in 2014 and Form 709 was filed reporting the transfer. She passed away in April 2015.
