If an adult child is healthcare power of attorney and another adult child is durable financial POA, can the healthcare POA place the aged parent in a nursing home which could take all of the parent's resources, including her home?

If an aged parent has left an adult child lifetime rights to live in parent's home (via a will), but the aged parent enters a nursing home, can the parent's home be sold to cover expenses of the nursing facility? What if the adult child has filed for SSI due to mental and physical disability but has not yet been deemed disabled?

Myself and my stepson who is older than me are both listed as beneficiaries on my now deceased spouses life insurance policy. I have filled out my portion of the paperwork (his portion is just a duplicate of mine) and I've attached all necessary documents. If he doesn't complete his paperwork will that delay my payment?

Mom gifted her home to me while retaining a life estate for herself in 2014 and Form 709 was filed reporting the transfer. She passed away in April 2015.
